Last Friday, Atlanta came across its first snow day in years, transforming the city and surrounding areas into a winter wonderland with a blanket of white snow covering the streets.
Some students said they haven’t seen anything like this since they were in elementary school, therefore they wanted to make the best of this day.
“My snow day consisted of sledding with my friends until I couldn’t anymore and going inside every couple of hours to cook or drink something warm,” said sophomore Sydney Marshall.
Having a traditional snow day was a dream come true for many students.
“It was cold, and me and my siblings were together outside sledding down our neighbor’s hills, throwing snowballs at each other and building snowmen,” said freshman Sebastian Peralta.
A lot of people’s pets had never seen snow in their life, so they were very eager to see the fallen snow.
“My family didn’t do much just played with my dog,” said sophomore Lily Kimball.
Other students brought back traditions that they started with their families the last time it snowed in Georgia.
“I made some cookies and homemade icing, and then my mom made beef stew which is something we have anytime it snows,” said sophomore Blaire Butcher.
This snow day was one for the books, as Atlanta saw its first “true” winter in years.
