What Restaurant to Go to- Anna Gorman
Need a restaurant? Say no more. Firebirds Wood Fired Grill down by Avalon is the perfect place to get some grub with your beau.
For starters, Firebirds has a very diverse dinner menu for both adventurers and picky eaters. It has a wide variety of steaks and seafood, but it is a bit expensive. To substitute, their soups are to die for. Ask for the soup of the day, and if the waiter comes back with chili order it immediately. It is the best. If soup isn’t your style, they have a vast selection of chicken dishes and salads. If all else fails, go with the handhelds. They’re a crowd pleaser.
Firebirds also has a great vibe and interesting décor, so you and your plus one aren’t stuck under the harsh glare of an LED strip light and tiled ceilings staring at blank walls. For a fun game while you wait for your food or to break the ice, count the number of colored glass panes around the restaurant.
If you end up going the Firebirds route, however, I recommend going early or making a dinner reservation in the morning. Firebirds does get crowded fast, especially on a holiday. If you just show up at 7 p.m. you’ll be waiting two hours for a table-for-two before you can blink.
Firebirds can make a great dinner location for Valentine’s Day dinner. So why not give it a go?
What Gift to Give- Megan Dunn
Don’t just give some basic gifts like chocolate and flowers. Make sure the gift fits the dynamic of your relationship and discuss it with your partner if it’s going to be a silly gift, sentimental, homemade, or expensive to avoid there being an imbalance in “effort” towards the gift.
A recent trend has become gifts that a couple can share like matching stuffed animals or shirts and Legos.
Lego has come out with many flower themed Lego sets that couples build together and last forever. But also, it shows a decent amount of commitment since Legos aren’t cheap but also that you are willing to spend the quality time together to build it.
Additionally, the Legos can represent something unspoken that you’re willing to build not just Legos but a strong bond with your partner.
On the flip side do not get heart shaped jewelry. It is so cringey and tacky and it won’t ever get worn so save you and your partner some grief and just avoid jewelry as a whole.
What flowers to give- Maria Lemos
Flowers should always be included in your gift rotation if you want to give the PERFECT gift.
Giving flowers to your partner is a practice that can be traced back to the 19th century, when giving a bouquet of red roses to a love interest represented a solidified relationship.
If you want to be a classic romantic, don’t break with tradition and buy them a bouquet of beautiful red roses. This is a universally loved flower when it comes to Valentine’s Day, so you don’t have to worry about receiving any complaints.
Let’s say you think roses are too basic, but you’re struggling to find the perfect flower to give. The best solution is to make your own bouquet.
Several grocery stores such as Publix and Kroger offer deals when you buy three different selections of flowers. You can mix a variety of flowers and colors to create a one-of-a-kind bouquet that’s just as special as your partner.
What Activity to Do- Mr. McDearmon
If you’ve got pricey dinner reservations planned for the evening, you might appreciate a cheap – or better yet, free – afternoon event.
The Alpharetta-Milton area boasts of several enviable public parks whose playgrounds you probably enjoyed as tykes. Well, now that you’re a bit more grown up, you might find that they’re perfect for strolling with the apple of your eye.
If the mood moves you amble, try Cogburn Park near Cogburn Road and Highway 9. You and your date can go round and round along the park’s walking path as you lose yourselves in conversation. But if you’d prefer a winding path under tree cover, try the trails at Wills Park off Wills Road. Spend the afternoon unwinding and taking in the crisp air and wooded scenery with your darling.
Sure, you can fritter away Valentines’ Day in front of your video games or Tik Tok, but perhaps a date with nature might be just the thing to help you and your sweetheart cultivate your budding romance.
Best chocolate to give- Lola Phipps
Usually when one thinks of Valentines Day, chocolate is the first thing that comes to mind. The challenging thing about getting chocolate for your significant other comes with choosing the perfect type that is within a certain price range.
The most common type of chocolate to give for Valentine’s is the heart-shaped boxes of mystery chocolates, or the classic Ferrero Rocher chocolates.
When gifting these chocolates, it is important to take your partner’s favorite things into account. This can narrow down the type of chocolate box to get them, because you would have a better idea of whether to get one with more caramel chocolates, or hazelnut flavored chocolates, for example.
These chocolate gifts can be expensive, but no matter the budget your partner can still enjoy some delicious chocolates this Valentine’s Day, as there are different sizes and at the end of the day, it’s the thought that counts.
How to Approach the Day- Ilay Fainshtad
When having a special someone to spend Valentine’s Day with the first thing people often think of is what to get as a gift or even where to go and what to do, but how one presents themselves isn’t thought of as much as it should be.
First, what to wear is important. Dress for the occasion. Clean yourself up and just make yourself look nice, maybe even go shopping with your partner ahead of time.
Another big thing aiming towards the guys is chivalry! Chivalry is not dead y’all. Open doors for your date, buy them flowers, wear a nice cologne that they approve of, get them some nice quality chocolate.
Finally, have manners. This could depend on humor and perspective but remember to be respectful. Make sure your partner gets home safely. Use your please and thank you’ s and remember to relax and enjoy yourself.
