Liz Pyke Retires After Five Years of Cambridge Service

After five years of working at the school, Elizabeth Pyke is saying farewell.

As the school’s data clerk, Pyke is responsible for managing all data about students, courses report cards audits and everything in between.

Pyke said her last day is Tuesday, as she has family responsibilities she needs to take care of.

For many at the school, Pyke will not be forgotten.

“Aw, you’re gonna make me cry,” said Nancy Sheridan, the school’s records coordinator, at the mention of Pyke’s name. Sheridan and Pyke have worked together since the beginning of the school’s formation and have grown close over the years.

“She’s the kindest, most generous person with her efforts. She’s always pleasant and upbeat with a smile, and she never has an unkind word to say,” said Sheridan. “She’s just incredible.”

Sheridan’s eyes brimmed with tears as she looked back fondly on her time with Pyke.

“She’s one of a kind. She makes me look forward to going to work. And when she’s not here, whether it’s for training or something else, you can feel the loss of positive energy. I can’t say enough good things. She’s an outstanding human being. It’s kind of like, what’s not to love about her?” said Sheridan. “And golly, the number of hours she works — it’s incredible.”

Pyke had nothing but positive things to say about her experience at the school.

“I’ve loved working here; it’s a great place to work,” said Pyke, adding that she loves the teachers and administrators at the school. “I like the comradery and the friendships that I’ve made. It’s a great environment.”

Pyke said she will miss everybody and is glad for the time she’s had at the school.

“It’s been cool to see the school come alive, winning awards and stuff like that,” said Pyke.

As a final message she wants to give the students, Pyke said, “Please thank your teachers, counselors, and administrators. They work so hard and have a lot of pressures. You only hear about the negatives, but there are so many good things. They’re always doing a great job, I think.”
