Man on the Screen: How Students Feel About Their First Full Day Back

Wednesday was the first day since March 12 that all students had the option to return to school face-to-face.

Despite mandatory face masks, social distancing and one-way hallways, it was the closest thing students had experienced to a “normal” school day for more than seven months.

Students have widely ranging opinions on what it was like to return to the school environment after such a long time, as well as how it was affected by the distinctly COVID-related changes.

Afton Ford, junior. “It was nice to see everyone and see the teachers. It was refreshing. The hallways were so crowded, but it’s nice to normalize things again.” (Ingrid Schmitz)
Alaina Giglio, senior. “It was anti-climactic.” (in)
Max Walkenhorst, freshman.
“It was pretty radical. The teachers are doing really good even though it’s hard and the system they’ve worked out is pretty good.”
Emma Furer, freshman
“It was really confusing at first. It took a while to find my way around.”
