Assistant Principal Kim Premoli recently received the 2018 North West Learning Community (NWLC) Assistant Principal of the Year award.

The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) National Assistant Principal of the Year program annually recognizes middle and high school level assistant principals who have provided their students with successful learning opportunities.

Premoli was nominated, along with several other assistant principals, and she made it to the finalist round of assistant principal nominations.

The recipient can be nominated by another principal who thinks that they are deserving of the award.

Premoli won the award on April 11, beating out several principals from each of the over 25 schools in the NWLC.

“After I had found out I qualified as a finalist, I didn’t think I had won,” said Premoli. “The staff had completely surprised me when I thought we were having a meeting for the school, but to find out it was for an award I had won, I was totally shocked and very excited.”

These assistant principals are acknowledged by their coworkers and peers for their effort towards their job in the school.

“Mrs. Premoli fits the description of the Bears’ biggest fan,” said Dianne Ellison, assistant to assistant principals.

“Not only does she support the staff and students academically, but in sports and the arts, as well,” said Ellison.

Ellison also recalled one Saturday morning when Premoli went the cross country state meet to watch the team run.

“It really showed her support,” she said.

The award also goes to those who demonstrate exemplary contributions to the profession.

“It feels nice to be recognized for something I love to do,” said Premoli. “I can’t thank Dr. Spurka and my Cambridge family enough.”

Premoli’s colleagues said they are proud to have her represent the school.

“She is a great mentor who genuinely cares about the school and everyone in it,” said Ellison. “I think everyone can agree that the award was well deserved and earned.”
