Prom 2018: A Likely Inspiration for Future Proms

This year’s prom planners said the smashing success of this year’s dance in downtown Atlanta could serve as inspiration for future proms.

“I think we just got it right this year,” said English Department Chair Michelle Morris, the student council sponsor. Morris planned prom with student council and with special assistance from junior Paige Sylvester.

In terms of proms to come, Morris said she learned one very important lesson.

“The kids really like being downtown,” she said, adding that prom will most likely continue to be held downtown.

This year’s dance was held at Southern Exchange Ballrooms in Atlanta. Morris said due to venues booking up quickly, she started planning a year in advance.

“We wanted it to be over the top,” said Morris. “We wanted it to be different.”

We wanted it to be over the top. We wanted it to be different.

Students who attended the dance seemed to believe prom planners accomplished just that.

“It was really elegant, but fun at the same time,” said senior class president Amelia Green.

Attendees especially liked this year’s venue.

“The huge chandeliers really fit the Gatsby theme, and having access to two floors was also cool,” said senior Jenna Hart.

Even the small details contributed to the students having a great time.

“I really enjoyed the photo booth and the desserts that they had,” said senior Romi Halfon.

Morris said there really wasn’t anything she would change.

“It was good to see everybody laugh and enjoy themselves,” she said.
