“Swinging Ahead”: Men’s Golf Team Look Forward to the Upcoming 2018 Season

The men’s 2018 golf team is looking forward to teeing off at the end of this month.

The team won the state championship for the 2014-2015 season, which was the year the school opened its doors.

However, the school’s golfers are hoping for a better outcome than last season’s state competition, where they placed 5th.

“The team has potential to be a solid team,” said new Head Golf Coach Bob Bordas, who is moving into that position after serving as assistant coach under Peter Vajda.

Even with this in mind, the team is looking at a potentially difficult season ahead, as several of its seniors graduated last year.

This, in turn, has resulted in very few upperclassmen stepping up to lead the team.

Despite this, a high number of prospective freshmen players could make up the difference.

“I am very excited for the upcoming season,” said freshman golfer Jack Woodliff.

The upside of having young players like Woodliff is that once they gain more experience in the following seasons, they’ll be able to produce a brighter future for the team in the following seasons.

The seniors and juniors on the team will also play a vital part this season, as they’ll be helping to not just develop the incoming freshman’s skills and goals, but to build on their own leadership skills.

“Players like Blake Kollin and Drew Henriksen will play a very important role in our season,” said Bordas.

Kollin is a senior and Henriksen is a junior.

These are just some of the star golfers on the team that can hopefully pave the way to glory.

“Coach Vajda built a great golf program at the school,” said Bordas on stepping into his new role as Head Coach.

Social Studies Department Chair Mark Schuler will take on Bordas’ former role as assistant coach.

Vajda, the former head coach, said he is optimistic about the players being able to adapt to changes in the roster and the coaching staff.

“Coach Bordas and I have coached boys golf together for 10 years,” said Vajda, as both previously coached men’s golf at Milton. “He has done a great job, and he will continue building a successful program.”

Johns Creek is the favored frontrunner to win state, based on the standings and results of the previous two seasons.
